The stovetop method is one of the most common techniques for cooking rice.Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice (any variety)
- 2 cups of water or broth
- Pinch of salt (optional)Instructions
1. Rinse the Rice: Start by rinsing the rice under cold water to remove excess starch. This helps achieve fluffier rice.
2. Boil Water: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or broth to a rolling boil.
3. Add Rice and Salt: Once boiling, add the rinsed rice and a pinch of salt to the water.
4. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking.
5. Rest: Once done, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit covered for another 5-10 minutes. This allows the rice to steam and absorb any remaining liquid.
6. Fluff and Serve: Use a fork to fluff the rice gently before serving.
